How SEO Marketing works. Cogs showing all the parts of marketing

How SEO Marketing Works

Marketing is probably one of the most important functions. However, SEO marketing seems to be a dark horse for most.

You may have the greatest product or service, but if no-one knows about it you will not make any sales. There are various forms of marketing. These range from dropping flyers to digital marketing campaigns and can even include networking.

According to me, if you have a physical product or service that you are selling, your website is your number one priority for marketing.

Firstly, this is the only platform you will have full control over. If Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn shut their doors tomorrow, you will lose your followers and with them your hard work in getting them. However, your website is under your control. You can decide what you post on it, how many pages or blog posts you want and what it looks like.

What is SEO

The biggest nightmare website owners have is how to get your website seen. This is where SEO comes in. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. So what is a search engine you might ask?

The most well-known search engine, one that we use every day, would be Google. So, how do you get Google to pick up your site? This is a tricky one.

Google’s algorithms change all the time. With a major update only happening a few weeks ago, on 24 September 2019. With over 200 factors in Google’s algorithm, this can be a bit tricky. The reason for this is that Google favours content-rich sites. You cannot rank on Google without providing information that benefits people. This is then also why we all ‘trust’ Google for answers to our everyday questions.

Google focuses on providing a good user experience!
